  • May 21: cancelled Calista Flockhart, star of hit TV series "Ally McBeal" is set to make her West End stage debut in a production of the classic American play, "The Philadelphia Story" at the Shaftesbury Theatre, London. Flockhart will be playing the role of the ice maiden, Tracy Lord, the central character in Philip Barry's classic American story of a spoilt little rich girl. The play will open for previews on May 21, 2001 and will run for at least 10 weeks.

  • April 29: South Africa’s Freedom Day.  Nelson Mandela hosts the first-ever open-air concert in Trafalgar Square marking the seventh anniversary of post apartheid elections in South Africa. The concert will feature performances from REM, Mel B, The Corrs, and Atomic Kitten and kicks off a month-long series of art exhibitions, fashion shows and plays.

  • April 13-16: London Original Print Fair: More than 5 centuries of prints can be seen at Europe's only specialist fair for original prints.  Royal Academy of Arts, London.

  • April 10: "Bid It Sum"- an Auction of Robbie Williams Memorabilia at Sotheby's in London will Be One of the Largest Rock and Roll Auctions ever. Aiming to Raise Money for William’s "Give It Sum" fund with proceeds going to help tackle poverty and injustice in Africa and the UK. Some of the items on sale include Robbie Williams's jeans from the promo video for "Rock DJ", a motorised toilet complete with number-plate on which he wizzed around the stage during his last tour. There will also be a selection of smaller items for sale including signed photographs and autographed CDs for younger fans. Auction starts at 10:30 AM.

  • April 7: Heaven & Hell art party.     • March 17-18: Australian pop star Kylie Minogue will be performing two dates at the Hammersmith Apollo, London.

    • March 15: The much-anticipated revival of Alan Jay Lerner's 1956 musical "My Fair Lady", is to open today at London's Lyttelton Theatre. Taking the starring roles will be Martine McCutcheon (Eliza Doolittle), Jonathan Pryce (Henry Higgins) and Dennis Waterman (Eliza's father Alfred). The award-winning musical is adapted from George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion. 

    • March 14: Press night for Colin Teevan's darkly comic new play, 'The Walls' at the Cottesloe Theatre, London. The play  examines the gradual disintegration of a house, a family and their favorite song.

    • March 11: last night of Madame Melville starring Macaulay Culkin and Irene Jacobs in a play about a teenager whose literary (and other) senses are brought to life by his teacher, Vaudeville Theatre, The Strand, 7pm. Penned by Royal Shakespeare Company -  veteran RICHARD NELSON (who also directs). 

    • March 11: "This Lonely Heart", a musical tribute to the life and songs of the late Roy Orbison opens at the London Palladium.  The show stars Canadian actor and singer Larry Branson.

    • March 10-11: Italian film composer Ennio Morricone is scheduled between these dates to make his concert debut at London's Barbican. The composer is famous for his music scores of films including "Cinema Paradiso", "Bugsy" and "The Mission".

    • March 1 - May 12: Anna Friel makes her British Stage debut in Frank Wedekind's powerful play, "Lulu", at the Almeida Theatre- King's Cross, London.

    • February 27- March 31: Enzo Cucchi: First Day. This exhibition features new paintings from the Italian artist who's work provides a fresh combination of conceptual thinking and a vibrant use of color and paint.  Timothy Taylor Gallery, London.

    • February 23 - March 10: Verdi's tragic masterpiece, Aida, set 'in the round' at the Royal Albert Hall, London. 

    • February 25: British actor Stephen Fry presents The British Academy of Film and Television Awards' (BAFTA) 2001 Film Awards at the Odeon Cinema in London's Leicester Square. Last year British director Sam Mendes swept the board with his debut picture "American Beauty". In June last year Bafta decided to bring the event forward from the usual mid April to a month before the Oscars in an effort to give the British film industry more glamour.

    • February 23: The prestigious 25th Laurence Olivier Theatre Awards at London's Lyceum Theatre include nominees  of stage and screen Helen Mirren, Julia Ormond, Jessica Lange, Harriet Walter and Julie Walters for the best actress category and Sean Campion, Conleth Hill, Michael Gambon, Simon Russell, Beale and Bill Nighy for the best actor award. Campion and Hill, new names to the nominations list, have the dubious honour of both being put forward for their starring roles in comedy hit 'Stones in his Pockets', currently touring the States.

    • February 20: Press night for the revival of JM Synge's play,  "The Playboy Of The Western World", at London's Cottesloe Theatre.

    • February 18-23: London Fashion Week for autumn and winter collections is provisionally scheduled to take place on these dates. The exhibitions which will include ready to wear, bags, hats, jewellery, scarves, shoes from dozens of designers and fashion houses and will be based in marquees outside the Natural History Museum and various other venues.

    • February 13 - 14: Theatre press night for  Timberlake Wertenbaker's latest play "Credible Witness", at the Royal Court's Jerwood Theatre.  The play stars Hollywood actress Olympia Dukakis.

    • February 13-14: The RHS London Flower Show can be seen at the RHS Horticultural Halls, Westminster.  This winter show will feature  ornamental plant competitions, an exhibition of botanical paintings, plus nursery trade exhibitors who will be offering  advice and inspiration to gardeners.

    • February 12: "Stars Cars and Guitars", a celebrity party in aid of Professor Sid Watkins' Brain and Spine Foundation, is to take place at London's Royal Albert Hall. Guests include Chris Rea, Jools Holland and other celebrities from Grand Prix racing, sports and entertainment.

    • February 5 - 16: 'British Eminencies'- an exhibition of 30 portraits by Henry Mee at The Fine Art Society, London.  Sitters include Her Majesty The Queen, Lord Carrington, Harold Wilson, John Mills and Richard Attenborough.

    • January 31: A gala preview of pictures from the Watercolor and Drawings Fair to be held on 1-4 February takes place at the Park Lane Hotel. The collection includes paintings by Alexander Cresswell, who accompanied the Prince of Wales on an artists' tour of the Balkans.  Starts at 6.30pm, in aid of MENCAP.

    • January 27: Tantalus-an epic 10 hour stage production begins its run at the Lyric Theatre, The Lowry, Manchester.

    • January 19: American easy-listening icon, Andy Williams, plays a concert at London's Royal Festival Hall. Williams is a leading MOR vocalist, whose 1967 hit "Music To Watch Girls By" recently re-entered the charts.

    • January 16: World Sports Awards Gala at The Royal Albert Hall.  This unmissable event pays tribute to the world's greatest sporting legends.  The awards will be presented by the likes of: Buzz Aldrin, Niki Lauda, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. Roger Moore will host the evening's proceedings, and there will be a special appearance from Muhammad Ali.  Entertainment on the night will be provided by Bryan Adams, All Saints and Cirque Du Soleil.

    • January 11- March 4: "True Football"- an Art and Photography  exhibition at London's Proud Galleries dedicated to "The Beautiful Game" with themes  including Derby games, fans, foreigners, the dark side of the game, last minute goals, confrontations, match of the day, and fashions.
