Summer 2000 marked the celebrity opening of the new Tate Modern gallery designed by Swiss architects, Herzog and de Meuron. The Bankside power station was originally built in 1963 and is not nearly as old as London Zoo which dates back to the last century.
Just along the river is another exclusive London venue. The Blue Print Café above the Design Museum in SE1 is owned by Conran- a name synonymous with gostyle and good design. This includes a member of the Conran family who is revealing his latest designs at London Fashion Week in September.
London Fashion Week is one of the highlights of the fashion year giving successful designers a chance to 'show off '. It's the place to be, if you want to see beautiful clothes- all of which will compare favorably with the eight outfits made from curtain material and worn by Maria and those delightful Von Trapp children in 'Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music'!
